EDMOND — If given the chance to do it all over again, state Rep. Sally Kern said she wouldn't change a thing.

In an address Thursday on the University of Central Oklahoma campus, Kern, R-Oklahoma City, again refused to apologize for secretly-recorded comments she made earlier this year to an Oklahoma City Republican club.
"If I knew it was being recorded, I'd still say the same thing,” Kern said. "I will not back down from what I believe the Bible teaches.”
Kern was the guest speaker at a meeting of UCO's College Republicans, an appearance that was scheduled before her comments about gays and lesbians drew national attention earlier this month. About 40 people attended Kern's speech, many of whom expressed their displeasure with Kern's beliefs.
Kern spent much of her speech explaining why she thought Christianity plays an important role in American government before turning her attention to her previous comments and taking questions from the audience. Most of the questions came from people who disagreed with Kern's views.
She attempted to clarify comments she made about Islamics in the same address, saying she was referring not to Islam as a whole but to Islamic extremists and Muslims who want to incorporate Islamic law into the U.S. system of government.
"It's like oil and water: They (Islamic law and American law) won't mix,” she said.
Kern said her statements about gays and lesbians were not directed at individuals, but rather the political agenda of "homosexual millionaires.”
Kern said she stands by statements she made that cite "negative consequences” associated with "the homosexual lifestyle.”

More Rufus baloney-- "Ok Paula, Hypo situation. Two people are murdered. One is gay the other is straight. The person who murdered the gay is guilty of a my heinous crime and gets a harsher sentence due to a hate crime law."
LIE. You didn't say a single THING that makes this a hate crime. If the gay person was killed BECAUSE THEY WERE GAY, that is a hate crime. If the straight person was killed BECAUSE THEY WERE STRAIGHT, that is a hate crime. You have (intentionally, I have to believe) totally misrepresented what this law means.
"That makes killing the straight person less of a crime, doesn't it?"
No, it does NOT. Hate crimes law do not reduce by ONE SECOND or ONE CENT the punishment for ANY OTHER CRIME and do not reduce their importance.
"Hate crime laws are nothing but PC BS..."
Ah, there's that MORONIC term, again. "PC." Meaning, of course, "discrimination and bigotry against people I don't give a darn about." Racism? It's just "PC", if you're a racist.
"I do not believe that Kern hates gays,"
Naive? Perhaps. One things for sure, if she genuinely cared for them as Jesus commanded, she'd say very, very different things.
There's an old saying, "with friends like this, who needs enemies." Maybe she'll say she doesn't hate gays...but if she did, her actions would not change a tiny little bit. So, that has to be that upon which we judge her views.
"I do believe that she is standing for her faith"
Horsecrap. Her faith is not AT ALL what she's standing for. The Bible does NOT say "go around telling vicious lies about gay people." Christianity does NOT require homophobia. Her faith says "Love one another," and to treat ALL with kindness and forgiveness. Her actions ARE NOT CHRISTIAN.
"and that is no different than a Muslim or a homosexual."
Say WHAT??? You think homosexuality is a RELIGION? That's completely daft. People don't choose sexual orientation, they choose their faith. And many Christians (and many Muslims) are gay.
"No one can fault her for that regardless of what she said about gays. You have your opinion well so does she and so do I."
And then there are the FACTS, not opinions but scientifically proven FACTS, which fly in the FACT of her "opinions." We have this absurd idea that "opinion" is some blessed thing we cannot criticize or touch, that a person can say bald-faced, hateful, destructive lies and if anyone criticizes them they can say "it's my opinion!" and you're not allowed to touch it. Well, "Black people are a lower species" is the "opinion" of people in the Klan, that doesn't make IT OK, and what Kern said is NOT OK, "opinion" or not.
"We have enough limp wristed politicians in the world to last me a life time."
"Limp-wristed" in your "opinion" meaning "not hateful and ugly and bigoted and mean and vicious" evidently. We have too many office holders who have a brain, and treat people with common decency?
"Gays can stand up and voice their opinions about their life styles"
Being gay is not a lifestyle.
"and everyone is supposed to except it because that is their decision."
Lie. NONE of this has ANYTHING to do with a "decision." This isn't opinion, it is PROVEN FACT. People do NOT choose to be gay, it's how God made them.
"Gays want their voices heard and straight people have an opinion too"
I'm a straight person. You don't represent straight people, you represent bigots. Get it right.
"and want to be heard, but when straight people talk it is a hate crime."
Lie. I'm a straight person expressing an opinion, first of all. Secondly, hate crimes are violent crimes, saying things that are wrong is not a hate crime. Kern's comments weren't a crime and nobody's said they were. They were hateful, but not a crime.
"I have never heard of anyone being arrested for voicing their opinion and frankly it is a shame if that ever happens."
And, of course, the homophobes will continue to push the lie that this is being suggested by ANYONE, when in fact it is NOT.
"I have family that is gay, I love them but I do not condone their life style because of my faith."
Lie. You don't love someone and treat them the way you're treating them, starting with the PHONY claim that this is a "lifestyle," as in CHOSEN. Did they TELL you they chose to be gay? Have you ever talked to them like a real human being? Obviously not.
And you faith has NOTHING to do with this. Fear and ignorance, not faith, are the issue because Jesus told you to love them, and that's it. Jesus never said a single WORD about homosexuality.
"I know a lot of homosexuals but that does not mean I hate them."
Again, if you DID I cannot imagine how you'd be ANY different. Why you feel the need to claim you don't, while you act as if you do, is a mystery. I don't give a damn if you hate me or not, so long as I'm treated fairly under the law. You want to continue discrimination and bigotry but claim you don't hate them, and that's positively worthless.
"It saddens me because there is a better way that Jesus instituted for the family but in the end is when it will be decided who is right and who is wrong"
Jesus never said a single WORD about homosexuality, and there are gay families JUST as blessed by God as yours or mine. Want to go around talking trash about gays, about how horrible they are? Praising bigots like Sally Kern? That's your choice, but STOP pretending Jesus has ONE THING to do with it.
Rufus, it's one thing to post stuff that's untrue but saying they oppose Kern because she's a Christian is a blasphemous lie. Many supporters of this group ARE Christians, there are excellent gay ministers and other gay Christians. It is absolutely the most sleazy, dispicable and sacreligious act IMAGINABLE to take those fighting against hate and bigotry and claim FALSELY that they oppose this because they're against Christianity.
HOMOPHOBIA IS NOT CHRISTIAN! The Bible never says a single WORD about homosexuality.
Idiots like Rufus cannot stand that the people in our state and, our country are evolving. We are more educated than the older generations on science and dont trust in something you cannot see. Most of my generation 18-25 think its not a problem to gay. These old fart religious nuts cannot hold on forever and,it will get better.
PS Rufus: Im from Oklahoma City and im not gay.
By the way,my wife agrees with me as well.
No one is after Kern because she is a Christian. The people who have opposed her words have done so because she said things that were untrue, she said things that were harmful and hurtful, and she said things that are likely to encourage people who already hold hate in their hearts to cause harm to people just because they are different. As for those who have levied death threats at her (which from what I've read have been unsubstantiated, but I don't doubt that there were some insulting words from some people - but definitely not ALL or probably not even a majority) they do not speak for me any more than Ms. Kern does.
Tim Gill and his gay associates funded 38% of all opposition toward those who opposed gay marriage last year. They are funding local races all across the country this year, helping to elect lawmakers who will push gay marriage and defeating those who will not.
They are undoubtedly involved in your state. (they are,and they are after Kern because she is a christian)
I do not believe that Kern hates gays, I do believe that she is standing for her faith and that is no different than a Muslim or a homosexual. No one can fault her for that regardless of what she said about gays. You have your opinion well so does she and so do I. We have enough limp wristed politicians in the world to last me a life time. Gays can stand up and voice their opinions about their life styles and everyone is supposed to except it because that is their decision. Gays want their voices heard and straight people have an opinion too and want to be heard, but when straight people talk it is a hate crime. I have never heard of anyone being arrested for voicing their opinion and frankly it is a shame if that ever happens. I have family that is gay, I love them but I do not condone their life style because of my faith. I know a lot of homosexuals but that does not mean I hate them. It saddens me because there is a better way that Jesus instituted for the family but in the end is when it will be decided who is right and who is wrong
While Gill prefers to focus on state politics, some wealthy homosexuals seek to influence the national political scene. For example, in her article on Salon.com, Kerry Eleveld said that, prior to the 2006 elections, openly-gay businessman Adam Rose donated $500,000 to a political advocacy group called Majority Action. The donation was for one reason and one reason only: to unseat Rep. Sue Kelly (R-NY). Why? Because Kelly voted in favor of the Federal Marriage Amendment, which would have amended the U.S. Constitution to define marriage as being between one man and one woman. Gill is worth 500 million dollars and has targeted 70 politicians with family values stances and defeated them with smear tactics in constantly run television ads.
A previous quote from a Christian hating gay:::::::::
"Let’s be very clear: Kern hates gays. She has a gay son, but hates gays. If it weren’t for the Bible she’d find some other justification for her hatred. She’s trying to make her bones as a bedrock conservative - at the expense of her own family. Sick, really." Kerns son wasn't gay and this was an example of "hate speech" that gay's think is ok when it's them using it..
Ok Paula, Hypo situation. Two people are murdered. One is gay the other is straight. The person who murdered the gay is guilty of a my heinous crime and gets a harsher sentence due to a hate crime law. That makes killing the straight person less of a crime, doesn't it? Hate crime laws are nothing but PC BS...
Before you jump on my words, I wasn't saying the murder of Jamie Bolin was a hate crime; I was merely pointing out the difference in sentencing already in place for different classifications of murder.
Rufus, hate crimes are historically more violent and more horrific than other crimes. And it doesn't just take into consideration minorities; if Ms Kern were physically assaulted because of her religion it would take that into consideration in her case as much as it would if a homosexual teenager were beat up just because he was gay. It's not giving special rights to any group, it's taking motive into consideration, which is already done in our courts. If someone is guilty of involuntary vehicluar manslaughter as a result of an auto accident, do you think their penalty should be the same as the monster who kidnapped, killed, and nearly decapitated 10 year old Jamie Rose Bolin? I don't think you have an understanding of what hate crime bills do.
If speaking out against homosexuality becomes a "Hate crime", then merely holding Christian beliefs can become dangerous and lead to lawsuits and criminal prosecution."
Some groups believe that "hate speech" will be folded into the definition of a hate crime, effectively eliminating the right to say anything negative about a protected group. (AKA THE GAY AGENDA) They're not after Sally Kern, they are after free speech.
Hate-crime laws require the state to treat one physical assault differently from the way it would treat another---solely because the state has decided that one motive for assaulting a person is more heinous than another." Dickey quotes Jonathan Rauch: "The message we ought to be sending is that violence is intolerable, period. If you say it's worse to kill someone because he's black, then you're saying it's not as bad to kill someone because he's not." STILL NO ANSWER FROM YOU K... Hate crimes are BS. They will all eventually be struck down as unconstitutional...
K, where's the explanation for why a "Hate crime law" should give a harsher penalty for assault and battery for one individual and not another? That's Unconstitutional...
Rufus, most civilized people don't beat up someone who is cheering for a different football team. Before you post on here, you really should know the facts about what you are writing. When you don't you appear very foolish, and no one will take you seriously. And instead of worrying about people getting beaten up, why don't YOU do something to make sure they don't? I still think you are afraid of something.
"The Rally for Sally and Christian Free Speech" will be at the State Capitol in the First Floor Rotunda on Wednesday at noon and she urged attendees to begin arriving at 11:15 A.M. "as there are delays at the security checkpoints when large numbers of people come to the Capitol."
The rally is being held as a counter-point to criticism of Rep. Sally Kern following her remarks critical of the homosexual lifestyle.
"In 2004, the people of Oklahoma overwhelmingly (76%-24%) spoke out in support of Traditional Family Values by approving the definition of marriage as being between ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN. Now those values are under attack again by those desiring to devalue marriage and devalue the Word of God. Anyone who dares to speak out in favor of Biblical Values and traditional marriage is accused of 'hate speech' and intimidated into silence.
