ATHENS, Tenn. — Authorities say former Oklahoma State receiver and NFL hopeful Adarius Bowman has been charged with simple possession of marijuana near his hometown of Chattanooga.

McMinn County Jail Officer Cody Price says Bowman was arrested Tuesday night and released after posting a $500 bond.

He was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

Officials could not immediately provide details of the arrest, which was first reported by The Daily Post-Athenian.

Bowman declined comment when reached on the phone by The Associated Press. His agent, Brian Overstreet, did not immediately return a message left at his office.

In two years at Oklahoma State, Bowman ranked fourth in school history in receptions with 127 and total yards with 2,187. Bowman transferred after being suspended indefinitely by North Carolina following a citation for possession of marijuana that was later dismissed.

Aaron, "most of the real athletes were not allowed to participate then"? Are you serious? In 1946, due to the GI Bill, college enrollment was at its highest percentage of overall population than any time before or since. You may not count it, but everyone else does. Marijuana is only technically legal in Denver. It is not legal in the state (except medical use since 2000) and if you get caught with it, you will be prosecuted, even by the city.

M from Edmond - But the Daily OUklahoman can't track its' precious athletes. That would be like eating your young!! They walk on water hadn't you heard? Some of them all the way to jail along with FORMER OSU athletes. So yea, Arron, it is an OU and OSU issue.

Last I heard, Bowman was done at OSU. What the hell does it matter what he now does outside of the university? If he was still a student athlete, his business would be important since he is going to school on Oklahoma's money. He is no longer a student athlete so if he wants to ruin his reputation, so be it. If this information is so important, it is now the Oklahoman's responsibility to track each and every step of EVERY graduate of both schools for all the dumb mistakes they make after graduation and place it as a "bad mark" against the university. At least this way, an accurate record can be kept.

No Telling how much of that crap he got away with while being T-Bone's boy the past couple years. How come Graham doesn't want to argue, OU isn't is the news about it, is that why? Scared of accountability; that is why your program is subordinate and T-Bone is throwing money around trying to change his and your image. Don't give me the BS about winning championships in the 1940's. Most of the real athletes weren't allowed to compete then, so they don't count to OU. Take a stand on the Riley issue or T-Bone's program will be viewed as weaker than puppy piss. Not say well OU did this and OU did that. Be men for a change, hell it is easy if you don't know any different.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a growing part of sports. If OU and OSU fans want to get into an argument about this, don't bother. Players at OSU have marijuana. Players at OU have marijuana. I guarentee at least a few players at every school have marijuana. The only difference is which players actually get caught with it. This just seems to be part of the college landscape nowadays, and it's something every school is dealing with.

They must have been waiting on Ryan to show up with the gas codes so they could go shopping at Burlington Coat Factory. Who had the car? Rhett?

I guess all the vile crap on the last thread closed it down. I still believe marijuana should be legal and our cops and jailers should be tracking down and locking up real criminals.

OSU fans are very quiet. We will have to note this incident so we can remind them next time they want to bash OU or their players.
