Those black shirts that defensive coordinator Tim Beckman gives out, how do you get those?

You almost have to be perfect. But he's not looking for just perfection. You just have to hustle and do the right things. I've never had one. I'm striving to get one.

Beckman is, let's say, enthusiastic. Does his yelling wear on a player or does it motivate you?

He's just making sure he's getting everything corrected. Like he always say, "the sky in the eye (camera) doesn't lie.” He's pretty reasonable. If he's not yelling at you, he's not trying to get you to be better.

Right now, you're the starting middle linebacker. Will you keep that role for Washington State on Aug. 30?

I'm going to keep it, through my performance. Try to perform and make plays.

You're one of OSU's many Houston products. Why so many Houston guys on the Cowboy roster?

We have talent down there. And we feel this is the place we're made to be. They take good care of us.
