NORMAN — It appears Blake Griffin’s decision day has arrived.

The Oklahoma freshman and coach Jeff Capel have scheduled a news conference at Lloyd Noble Center for 1 p.m. today where it is expected that Griffin will announce his intentions for next season.

Griffin, who was the Sooners’ leading scorer and rebounder, has been discussed as a possible top-10 pick in the NBA Draft. But he has also discussed his desire to play one more season with his older brother, Taylor, who will be a senior at OU next year.

Earlier this year, Griffin said it was “a pretty sure thing” that he would return for his sophomore season, unless OU made a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. The Sooners lost 78-48 to Louisville in the second round last month.

Griffin was a first-team All-Big 12 selection and averaged 14.7 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. He helped get the Sooners back to the NCAA Tournament after last year’s team failed to do so, ending a 25-year postseason streak.

Returning for his sophomore year would drastically improve the outlook for next year's Sooners, who have signed McDonald's All-American point guard Willie Warren.
