Police say 33-year-old Deanne Powers of Eagletown offered a text message apology to the store owner after the theft was discovered that read, "I'm sorry, I quit."

Powers pleaded guilty Thursday and received five years probation, as well as $500 fine for the crime.

Judge Ted Capeheart ruled Powers also must pay the restaurant back for the money she stole.

She must have been a manager or assistant manager to have access to deposits. Its impossible to hide this crime because the registers are tied to the corporate systems even though the restaurants are privately owned. McDonalds is the most micro-managed company in the world next to Walmart. Employees get discounts for meals they buy while on or off duty. They can charge these meals against their paychecks. There used to be no limit to how much they can charge. I knew this lady who ran up such a large bill that when she quit, instead of a final paycheck, she got a final bill. Needless to say she's a rather large lady. At the McDonalds at 122nd and I-35, I had to wait about 15 minutes while an employee took care of her 10 visiting family members. It was a literal reunion right in the restaurant. I no longer go into that location because it has a new manager about every 2 weeks and is still mismanaged. Turnover is so bad in the front end that at any given time, every cashier is in training. The very last time I visited was last week. All I wanted was a 32oz. diet coke. The lady had trouble taking care of the order from git-go. First, she couldn't find the item on the touch screen. Then I said, "Maybe you call it a large coke." She said, you wanted what? I told her I wanted a 32 oz. diet coke. The largest diet coke they sell. After finally finding it, she collected my money then handed me the product. I tasted it and it was a sugared regular coke. I told her it was not a diet coke. She said, "oh, you wanted a Diet Coke?." She threw it away and proceeded to make me my diet coke, about 10 minutes after I first asked for one. Oh the humanity!

I quit? I quit what? My job or stealing? Or was it "I'm sorry I quit?" Sorry I quit what? My Job? Stealing? C'mon, for $12,500 even an Oklahoman could be a little clearer than that.
