What has this spring looked like from your perspective?

The defense is looking a ton better from last year. That's the biggest thing. There's a lot of young guys making plays.

Mike Gundy has said he won't be sure if you or Brandon Weeden will be the backup quarterback until fall. How does that affect you?

It really doesn't matter. You go out there every day to compete anyway, so it's not that big of a deal. And all you can control is what you do.

In some ways is it good to have an ongoing competition?

I think it's better because if you aren't competing for anything you're just going through the motions. I think it makes you better.

How is it different from last year when you weren't competing for that spot?

You gotta pay a lot more attention. It's a lot more work, but it's funner.

What are the things you need to work on?

You can always improve on reading the defense because they're always changing and you can always work on speed, throwing, the basics.

What did you do for your spring break this year?

Just went home (to Salt Lake City, Utah). Did a little skiing, hung out with family. It was good.

We're nearing the end of the semester. How's school?

I had some tough classes this year I was kinda worried about but I ended up finding out today I'm doing pretty good in them. I'm a business-econ major. Some of my classes are a little harder than I thought they would be. Last year I started the econ classes so I'm still doing kind of the introductory ones. Macro, I'm taking macro, and it's tough.
