Johnston was killed and her two children were injured in a two-vehicle accident Saturday on an unpaved Pottawatomie County road, the patrol said.

Johnston died at the scene of the wreck, which occurred about 8:40 p.m. on County Road NS 345 just north of State Highway 39 and west of Asher, the patrol said.

Her children, 2-year-old Alexis Johnston and 1-year-old Colton Johnston, were flown to OU Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

Sunday morning, Alexis was listed in serious condition, and Colton was listed in fair condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Troopers said Johnston was driving northbound on the county road when she veered left of center and collided with a southbound sport utility vehicle driven by 25-year-old Asher resident Elizabeth Skender. Skender wasn't reported hurt.

One of Skender's three passengers, 20-year-old Trenton Moore, of Asher, was taken to a Seminole hospital in good condition with unspecified injuries, the patrol said. Skender's other passengers, 5-year-old Austin Middlebrooke and 3-year-old Alexandria Middlebrooke, both of Asher, were not reported hurt.

Troopers said Heather Johnston was not wearing a seat belt, and that Alexis and Colton were wearing seat belts but child seats in the car were not used properly. Everyone in Skender's vehicle was wearing a seat belt, but no child seats were in use.

•Ralph Oberlechner Sr.,

68, Tecumseh

Oberlechner was working in his son's yard Saturday night when the tractor's engine died, Pottawatomie County Sheriff Kurt Shirey said. Oberlechner was able to fix the battery cable but was knocked down and run over as the tractor restarted.

Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free Oberlechner, but paramedics were unable to revive him.

•Richard Van Golden, 60,

Stillwater

Golden died at the scene of a two-vehicle wreck about 1:40 p.m. Sunday in Payne County about 2½ miles west of Yale, the patrol said.

Troopers said August Bamford, an 89-year-old Okmulgee resident, was westbound on State Highway 51 a half mile east of State Highway 18 when he drifted left of center.

Golden was eastbound and took evasive action, but Bamford's pickup struck his car on the road's north shoulder.

Bamford was taken to a Stillwater hospital, from which he was later released, for injuries he suffered on his face and hand, the patrol said.

Golden's wife, Karen Golden, 56, suffered head and arm injuries and was taken to a Cushing hospital, from which she also was later released.

The Goldens and Bamford were all wearing seat belts.

•Kendall Ray Stewart, 20,

Ardmore

Stewart died Sunday evening when his car was hit by a tractor-trailer rig.

About 6:20 p.m., Stewart was southbound on State Highway 76 when he failed to yield at the intersection of U.S. 70, west of Wilson in Carter County and was struck in the driver's side door, according to a patrol report. Stewart died at the scene.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Kenneth Duan Copple, 45, of Nebraska, was not hurt.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

•Joseph L. Baker, 24,

Mansfield, Texas

Baker was a passenger in a car that left the road and rolled two times. He was partially ejected from a sunroof and was pronounced dead at the scene.

About 5:30 p.m., Jimmy L. Baker, 22, of Atoka, was driving the car eastbound on State Highway 43, two miles east of Coalgate in Coal County, when it left the road on the right side, came back onto the road, left the road again, struck a mailbox fortified by rocks and rolled, according to a patrol report.

Jimmy Baker was taken to Norman Regional Hospital where he is listed in critical condition, the patrol said. Jimmy Baker was wearing a seat belt. Joseph Baker was not.
