Key veteran
Asked to name players who made a strong impression this spring, coach Mike Gundy started with one of his seniors.

"Jacob Lacey had a really good spring,” Gundy said. "He's turned the corner as a top-notch student-athlete. He's done very well in school, has been on time and has played really well.”

OSU coaches will try to match the veteran cornerback against the opponent's top receiver whenever possible.

"I'm excited about that,” Lacey said. "I'm ready to take on that job and perform to the best of my ability. Bring it on.”

•Invaluable experience: With senior tight end Brandon Pettigrew watching from the sidelines all spring, redshirt freshman Wilson Youman probably participated in more plays this spring than anyone on the roster. Youman is the only other scholarship tight end on the roster. He dropped four passes in the spring game but also caught a 31-yard touchdown pass.

"He got a lot of reps,” Gundy said. "He'll develop more and be a better player in August because of all the work he got this spring. He's still a ways away but he's going to be the guy backing up Brandon. Everybody knows the tight end is very important in this offense.”

Intense off-season: The Cowboys don't return to practice until early August. Players are given a couple of weeks off during the summer. But off-season workouts can be a grind under strength and conditioning coach Rob Glass.

"We had a great spring and finished strong,” Gundy said. "We need the guys to perform well this summer and work hard. This becomes the most intense time for our football team where our guys can come together as a group.”

All, I don't think Tim is an OSU fan or from Stillwater. I think it's a Sooner fan just trying to stir the pot.

Wow, Tim,

I hope you don't post much more. I would love to beat the sooners but you just reduced yourself to what the loyal OSU fans hate: ignorant loud mouth trash talker. I'm glad to see our defense get more depth. That's really all we can tell from this game. GO POKES!

We are going to own the Gooner Sooners. I can't wait for the trailer park trash to get mad about us beating them.
