The lawsuit filed in Birmingham, Ala., seeks class-action status. Its claims include breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and negligent and reckless operation of an aircraft.

The suit filed Friday contends the class likely covers more than 10,000 people.

It seeks compensatory and punitive damages from the Dallas-based airline.

POTENTIAL that is.

I agree that this is a foolish lawsuit....however, shouldn't we all be upset as well that Southwest (and other airlines) cheated and did not follow the rules? When you get on an airplane, you are accepting on good faith that the airline has followed the safety rules and that they are not skimping on safety. In this case, it appears that Southwest did skimp on a maintenance issue that had the POETENTIAL to cause severe harm or loss of life.

This is exactly what is wrong with America. Nobody wants to work for their money anymore. I agree with the no harm no foul way of looking at this. Once again, what do you call 10,000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? A good start!

Why doesn't this surprise me? Yeah, these folks need to get a life.

How were those filing the suit "wronged"? I don't recall any crashes, and filing a suit based on delays and such won't go over. These people need a life, a job and a work-ethic.

Are you kidding me?! Wow, what a joke...some people should work for a living instead of trying to make money from stupid lawsuits.
