Mike Holder said he and C.M. Newton have never met face-to-face, but the OSU AD might have just been too focused on other things.

Newton recalled meeting Holder years ago when Kentucky hosted the NCAA golf championship. Regardless, the two became friendly through the search process, and Newton said he and his son plan to visit Stillwater late this fall to see Ford and, oh yeah, play golf at Karsten Creek.

"I do feel special about that,” Newton said, referencing how prestigious the course is. "When he sees my swing he might regret it.”

Said Holder: "His son works for Nike, Martin, and we're a Nike school so that's a synergy there. They're both golfers. So Mr. Newton's promised me that sometime in the not-too distant future he's going to bring his son out and they're going to play golf on our golf course and we're going to sit down and talk about things. I want to meet that man.”
