In Beaver, champions crowned when the cow chips are down

BEAVER — Cal Nelson was already planning a road trip to the southwest when he found out about the World Championship Cow Chip Throw on the Internet.

His twin brother and their best friend were unanimous in their enthusiasm for the event, so they drove about 1,200 miles from Potterville , Mich. , to participate in Saturday's competition in Beaver, the Cow Chip Throwing Capital of the World.
