Freshman guard Tony Neysmith is transferring from Oklahoma to another school, the university announced Wednesday afternoon.

The 6-foot-5 Neysmith played in 22 games last season, averaging 0.5 points and 0.6 rebounds per game.

"Tony said he wants to be closer to home," Capel said. "We respect his decision and wish him luck. Hopefully, he'll find a place where he'll be happy."

Capel also announced that 6-foot-7, 205-pound junior-college swingman Juan Pattillo has signed with the Sooners.

Last season, Pattillo was the leading scorer for the College of Southern Idaho, which was ranked No. 1 in the junior college top 25 for several weeks. He averaged 17.4 points and 6.7 rebounds for CSI.

Pattillo had verbally committed to OU over the weekend.

A DANNY I backed out of the room and found you on your knees, As for OU being NO.1 in the Big XII next season, WHO IS GOING TO BE BETTER? I know basketball, I know Kansas will lose Rush, Arthur and Chalmers, I know they recruited extremely well but if you think those Freshman are ready to defend a title they didn't play for......you're an Azz clown. I also know Texas lost Augustine, and if he gets drafted(I don't think he will) AJ Abrams may be gone, SO Texas may have to rebuild it's backcourt though they did recruit nicely(they got J'Covan Brown) I guess you assume Justin Mason will play brilliant at the point and replace Augustine right? You're an azz. Get off your knees and leave me alone son. OU will win the Big XII next year. Hell it's not like Oklahoma hasn't done it before did you forget all those azz kickings we gave Texas, Kansas, Mizzou and OSU before Kelvin left? Did you forget first team to repeat as Big XII tourney champs both in basketball and football. Yes you are the one on crack.

Danny, who do you think should be the favorite in the Big 12? Texas and Kansas would both be good choices, but they each also lost their best players to the draft. Kansas State lost Beasley. I don't think it's all that crazy to think OU would be the favorite. While everyone ahead of them is getting weaker this offseason, the Sooners are getting better.

I personally hope Clark can come back. He is a very talented player - big, athletic, and has good basketball skills. He was highly recruited and cosidered one of the plums of that great class that didn't come here(other than he and Crocker). We missed him more than people realize the last 2 years.
In this age of physical play you need all the talented big guys you can get to run out there. That's what helped Kansas win it all.

This offseason is starting (starting, I say) to make up for the offseason two years ago. First, Capel stayed. Then, Blake stayed. Then we got the wing we needed earlier this week. Now we have an open roster spot, just in case Moose does make it back. Then, today, Augustin announced he was going pro, making the Sooners perhaps the favorite to win the Big 12 title next season. Thank God Sampson is gone!

I personally don't think OU has a need for Moose, they have alot of talent comming in down low and Moose may not get the playing time he was getting beforehand. I hope OU gets a FAST point guard, I still think other than Warren OU will have slow players on the perimeter. They got a walk on comming in but if they could get a JUCO point or any leftover 3 star or higher point, things could get even more exciting prior to next year.

Yeah usually coaches know or have a notion when a player might transfer or decide to leave. I think Capel might have known which is why he kept recruiting Juan. Now if Moose can pass the 13th grade (Rose State College) then I'm pretty sure Capel will give the scholarship to him. I wish Tony the best of luck I never heard anything bad about the kid and has never complained about not receiving that much playing time. Hope he can transfer to a pretty good D1 school and have a successful 2 more years playing college ball.

Raymond, hope your right about Clark getting back on the team. Capel seemed pretty PO'd with him. He's really good.

Back in the Billy Tubbs era, OU players such Eric Manual and the kid from Preston whose name I can't remember, who could not compete for playing time found their way to OCU. The net affect was they ending up having good careers at OCU and got a good education in the process. I wondered how Coach was going to find room for Moose Clark. Now we know.

I meant NCAA title threat by the end of next season...

Translation, Neysmith wasn't getting any playing anytime soon, Why? Um an incomming guard by the name of Wille Warren, not to mention another incoming freshman tweener Ray Willis had the size and scoring skills to even further push back Neysmith's playing time... OU will be a top 10 team by the end of next year and a NCAA title by the end( BELIEVE ME!)

Also, he wasn't playing much, they had already gotten commitments from Willie Warren who will possibly start from day one and a couple other guards. I think he was probably home sick but he also saw there was a lot of stout competition coming in too.

Chris, what is your evidence behind the comment "Capel ran him off?" Just curious. Also, this opens up another scholarship for Capel, doesn't it? Surely, Capel can replace Neysmith's .5 points and .6 rebounds per game with that.

Translation: Capel ran him off and they agreed to let him save face by saying he was homesick and wanted to go somewhere closer to home.
