Ford to hold camps
Although they have to be put together on short notice, Oklahoma State will hold its annual summer boys basketball camps. The school announced last week that new head coach Travis Ford will hold five different camps as part of Travis Ford Basketball School.

Three mini-camps will be held, the first two from June 2-5 for 1st-8th graders with one session in the morning and one in the afternoon. Another mini-camp for 3rd graders to high school seniors will be held June 6 and 7.

An individual camp for both overnighters and commuters will take place from June 8-12, and team camp is from June 20-22.

Ford and his staff will oversee the camp, and OSU players will serve as counselors and instructors. For more information about Ford's camps and how to sign up call the basketball office at (405) 744-5845 or visit okstate.com.

•Spots available: At the moment, with more than two weeks remaining in the current signing period, OSU has at least one scholarship open for next season.

Allotted 13 scholarships, OSU will have 12 in use next season if everyone returns (including suspended senior-to-be Terrel Harris and both players who signed on when Sean Sutton was the coach) come to OSU.

•Conditioning coach: Ford said last week that, aside from Steve Middleton , who he brought in from his UMass coaching staff, he planned to take his time making staff decisions. While he didn't give definitive answers about anybody's future with OSU basketball, Ford did say that he has been impressed by strength and conditioning coach Jake Manzelmann. During the summer, strength coaches are permitted to work out players while coaches are not.

"In our system that's obviously a very important job,” Ford said, referring to the fast-paced basketball he plays and the high level of fitness it requires. "I think he does a great job with them. We've met several times, and I've been really impressed with him.”
