STILLWATER — Texas billionaire Boone Pickens will make a historic gift to academics at Oklahoma State University tomorrow, OSU officials said.

The dollar amount was not released but is expected to be in the tens of millions.

Pickens gave $165 million to OSU athletics in 2005, which generated criticism from some faculty members that athletics were more important than academics.

"We said when we made the big gift of $165 million — which has grown to $300 million — that we'd be back again," Pickens told CNBC today. "I'll be in Stillwater tomorrow morning."

Tomorrow's announcement will be made at 11 a.m. on the south lawn of Edmon Low Library. Gov. Brad Henry also will speak.
