Not Tar Heel blue.
Bruin blue.
"I get some looks,” he admitted. "When I walk around at ballgames there, they look at me and wonder what I'm doing there.
"They think that I'm weird, I guess.”
Bowman became a UCLA fan back in elementary school, when the Bruin basketball dynasty was going strong. Then in 1999, he convinced co-worker Mike Lail to drive with him to Chattanooga, Tenn., to see the UCLA softball team play.
The men got hooked.
They've been coming to the Women's College World Series ever since. Even when the perennial powerhouse Bruins didn't make it a year ago, Bowman and Lail came to Oklahoma City anyway.
"It wasn't as much fun,” Bowman said, "but it was actually a little bit more relaxing because I wasn't sweating every game they played.”
Still, Bowman and Lail are glad to see the Bruin blue back in OKC.
"You can't beat this right here,” Bowman said. "I love this.”
