Coal porter: Fuel carries higher load these days

O NE year ago, the state was abuzz over a debate pitting coal against natural gas as the fuel source for a proposed power plant near Red Rock . The Oklahoma Corporation Commission was getting ready to hold hearings on the proposal involving the state's two largest public utilities.

Last week, one of those utilities said it must raise residential electric rates by an average of $17.50 per month to recover the risin...
