NBC, Notre Dame extend TV deal
Notre Dame and NBC on Thursday announced a new five-year agreement under which NBC will televise Irish home football games through 2015, which will mark the 25th year of the partnership. The extension provides NBC rights to eight Notre Dame home games from 2011-15, seven games at Notre Dame Stadium and an additional eighth off-site home game airing in primetime each year. Among those telecasts will be an OU-Notre Dame game from South Bend, Ind., in 2012. NBC will begin televising eight Notre Dame games in 2009.

Beasley featured in Web series: Former Kansas State star Michael Beasley, who is expected to be among the top two picks in the NBA draft, is being featured in a weekly series of 3- to 5-minute videos on ESPN.com. Beasley is also featured on the cover of the new issue of ESPN The Magazine.

ESPN.com suspends columnist: ESPN.com columnist Jemele Hill was suspended Tuesday after sparking outrage by comparing rooting for the Boston Celtics to Adolf Hitler and nuclear war. Hill, a self-proclaimed Detroit Pistons fan, since has issued an apology for writing, "Rooting for the Celtics is like saying Hitler was a victim. It's like hoping Gorbachev would get to the blinking red button before Reagan.”

Last licks: HBO's "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” looks at the International Olympic Committee's decision to remove softball from the Olympic Games after 2008 in an episode that debuts at 9 p.m. Tuesday. Correspondent Andrea Kremer interviews members of the U.S. Women's Softball team as they prepare for what likely is their final Olympics.
