Seemingly before every season, Oklahoma is one of a few teams capable of winning a national title. And almost every year, that is the ultimate goal in Norman.

In 2000, when they weren't expected to, the Sooners won a championship, capping a remarkable 13-0 season.

OU has come close since, even playing in two other national championships, however, an eighth title has evaded the Sooners.

But there's reason to believe that this could be OU's year to secure that eighth title.

For the first time in years, quarterback is a position of strength, not of concern. The offensive and defensive lines are among the nation's elite. And the offense is filled with dynamic skill players like running back DeMarco Murray and tight end Jermaine Gresham.

The schedule also shapes up nicely. Texas is down. The toughest opponents come to Norman. And Big 12 North favorite Missouri isn't on the slate.

Could this be the year?

We'll soon find out.
