Last week, Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops removed freshman wide receiver Josh Jarboe from the squad after a rap video surfaced on YouTube of him talking about guns and shooting people.

Jarboe had been arrested in the spring for bringing a stolen gun to his Georgia high school campus, though the felony convictions were reduced to misdemeanors.

What Jarboe's dismissal means for him and the Sooners:

Q: How will Jarboe's absence affect OU on the field?

A: Immediately, it won't be that big of a deal. OU is set at receiver with seniors Juaquin Iglesias, Manuel Johnson and Quentin Chaney. Plus, the Sooners are going to flank tight end Jermaine Gresham and often use Ryan Broyles and possibly running back DeMarco Murray in the slot.

But next year, several of those players will be gone and that's when OU was counting on Jarboe to make an impact, perhaps even in the starting lineup.

But the Sooners still have young, talented players left in freshmen Jameel Owens and Dejuan Miller. Broyles, Brandon Caleb, Tyler Stradford, Corey Wilson and Adron Tennell will be back next season, too. From that group, enough players should emerge to cover Jarboe's departure.

Q: What's next for Jarboe?

A: Because Jarboe was never enrolled as a full-time student at OU during a regular academic term (summer doesn't count), nor did he participate in any official football practice, he is not considered a transfer by the NCAA and thus eligible to play football immediately at whatever school he attends.

Last week, his high school coach, Ray Bonner, said he wouldn't rule out advising Jarboe on attending a Football Championship Subdivision school, like Georgia Southern or Savannah State, to keep him out of the spotlight while he works on improving his academics and straightening out his life.
