EDMOND — Even though authorities determined no students were in danger from a report about a gunman Monday morning, six Edmond schools were placed on modified lockdown.

The Edmond Police Department received the call shortly before 9 a.m. about a man with a gun at 15th Street and Rankin.

Officers went to the area but could not find anyone, said Glynda Chu, police department spokeswoman.

Memorial High School, Central Middle School, Clyde Howell Prekindergarten Center, Orvis Risner, Will Rogers and Clegern elementary schools were in precautionary lockdown until just past 10 a.m.

Brenda Lyons, associate superintendent, in a written statement, called the lockdown a precautionary measure and wrote that as far as officials could tell, no students were in danger.

During a modified lockdown, teachers continue class, but outside doors and classroom doors are locked, Lyons said.
