Players only
Before the game at Washington, quarterback Sam Bradford called for a players-only meeting, with coaches excused from the room.

The Sooners later went out and put a very businesslike whipping on the Huskies, showing no signs of the road struggles that plagued the team the year before.

More and more, talk of a special maturity gets mentioned when describing this team.

"I don't know that we've had a lot of those,” Bob Stoops said of the players-only meeting. "And in the end, it was a positive thing. We've had a really good leadership and not just from the captains, but from the juniors and seniors.

"There's a bunch of guys that are stepping up and taking accountability for leading the team. That's always a good thing.”

•Leap of faith: Beating OU stands as a major goal for TCU, but mainly because it could be the team's ticket to a BCS bowl berth.

Finishing unbeaten is all but a requirement for teams from non-BCS conferences like the Horned Frogs. So in regard to their ultimate bowl hopes, this is a must-win game.

"It would definitely be a great thing for us as a senior class and as a program here at TCU to be able to pull off a BCS bowl game,” TCU senior linebacker Jason Phillips told reporters this week. "In order for us to do that, we definitely want to come out and win this game.

"We're not trying to say this is going to make or break our season as far as the BCS goes, but it is definitely a game we want to put a lot of concentration into to pull out a victory.
