YUKON — A holiday program that provides Christmas presents for children is seeking donations, police spokeswoman Klare Ly said. Shop with a Cop is a program that allows children to go shopping with a police officer. School officials and local agencies refer children with social or economic needs to the program, Ly said. Police hope to raise enough to spend $100 to $150 for each child. The program is modeled after similar ones in other cities, Yukon Police Chief Gary Wieczorek said. Children selected for the program will have a Christmas shopping day with a police officer Dec. 13. To make a donation, call 354-1711.
