Green looks to bounce back

Second-year forward Jeff Green enters tonight’s game against Houston hoping to have a better performance than he did in Wednesday’s season opener. Green scored just seven points on 2-of-7 shooting with three rebounds, two assists, two steals and five turnovers in 27 minutes.

"Hopefully that’s my first bad one for a long time to come and I just continue to progress from here on out,” Green said.

Green said his struggles stemmed from everything he could control and added that he simply needs to make shots. But coach P.J. Carlesimo pointed to tough matchup assignments against veteran swingmen Richard Jefferson and Michael Redd.

"Young guys by their nature tend to be up and down,” Carlesimo said. "Jeff had a lot of ups (last year). So I’m not concerned with how Jeff’s going to respond, because he played too well last year and he’s practiced too well this year that it’s not a question to me whether he’ll come back and play well.”

Best practice yet

Carlesimo called Friday’s session arguably the best practice the team has had all season.

"We got a lot better,” Carlesimo said. "What makes a really good practice is both teams playing well when it’s 5-on-5. We had a lot of guys have a good day...Guys pushed each other. It was very competitive.
