Did you see the most important housing news story this week?

It wasn’t the one in USA Today, although that was pretty cool.

"Close to home: Oklahoma City’s home sales are holding up,” the headline said.

There’s some angst out there. But nobody is freaking out here, said Marolyn Pryor, president of the Oklahoma City Metro Association of Realtors.

"I’ve heard a lot of people talking about the stock market and the economy,” Pryor told USA Today. "But right now, they don’t seem to be that upset.”

The USA Today story noted, as first reported by The Oklahoman Oct. 18, that home sales were up here in September compared with September 2007. That’s national news, because even a little 1.5 percent blip up is the envy of most local housing markets now.

So far this month, Pryor said, "We’re doing fine, and people are still buying homes and moving up.”

Well, not so far up as they were a couple of years ago.
