OSU defense no longer a liability

Here’s what some Oklahoma State defenders had to say about the defense’s new attitude, and being a reason for the team’s success:

→"It feels a whole lot better being known as a defense that can carry the offense when they’re struggling as opposed to the past, when it’s been all offense and the defense has just been out there some of the time. It’s a good feeling knowing that we’re helping the team win. That’s the biggest thing. We’re doing our part to make sure that we’re successful. If we keep doing that, the sky’s the limit.”

— Junior defensive end Derek Burton

→ "We’ve definitely got a different swagger about ourselves, but at the same time, it’s a lot more pressure being a good defense than it is being a worse defense, because you’ve got the pressure of coming in week-in and week-out having to perform at the same level against different types of talent. Yeah, we hold our heads high, but there’s pressure to continue to perform at a very high level.”

— Senior cornerback Jacob Lacey

→ "It feels good after all the hard work we’ve put in, knowing we had the athletes here, but we just haven’t been able to put together a complete season of playing great defense. We’ve worked hard to change that mentality and attitude of the defense, so now it feels good when you’re getting some credit for playing good defense.”

— Junior linebacker Andre Sexton
