Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame Inductees
Col. Robert Abraham — He fought in World War II as company commander and made his first combat jump into Normandy, France on D-Day, June 6, 1944. His decorations include the Legion of Merit, two Bronze Star Medals and the Purple Heart. Tech. Sgt. Paul J. Andert — He fought on the island of Sicily, landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, and later participated in the Battle of the Bulge. His awards include the Silver Star, three Bronze Star Medals, two Purple Hearts and the Combat Infantry Badge. Lt. Col. Karl K. Dittmer — He was a 27-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, joining the U.S. Army Air Corps and fighting in World War II where he flew 52 combat missions in Europe. His awards include three Distinguished Flying Crosses, a Bronze Star Medal and 20 Air Medals. Gen. Tommy Franks — He joined the U.S. Army in 1967, retiring in 2003 as commander-in-chief, U.S. Central Command. Some of his awards include four Bronze Star Medals with Vs, three Purple Hearts and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
