Family organizes Oklahoma City blood drive in memory of daughter

The family of a young girl who died of liver cancer will host a blood drive in her honor from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday.

The blood drive at Northwest Baptist Church, 3030 NW 23, honors the memory of Anna Jane Salamy, who died on Nov. 25.

Marlo Salamy, Anna’s mother, said she wanted to mark the one year anniversary of her daughter’s death with an event that will help other sick children regain health.

"I didn’t want to let that day go by without marking it in some way, I thought this would be good way to honor her and help someone else at the same time,” Salamy said.

Anna had two liver transplants in her fight against hepatoblastoma, and needed a lot of donated blood during her illness.

The family will auction several items during at the drive, including a football signed by University of Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops.
