Final free flu vaccinations set for December

The final free influenza vaccinations offered this season by the Oklahoma City-County Health Department are scheduled for the first two weeks of December.

Childhood immunizations also will be available at some sites.

Immunizations are free, but donations will be accepted.

The main health department facility, 921 NE 23, is not offering flu shots this year because of parking lot repairs.

The schedule


Monday — childhood immunizations only from 8:30 to 11 a.m., infant and child flu shots from 12:30 to 4 p.m., Bethany First Baptist Church, 3800 Mueller.


Tuesday — flu shots from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Metro Tech, 1900 Spring Lake Drive.


Dec. 9 — childhood immunizations only from 8:30 to 11 a.m., infant and child flu shots from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the Midwest City Community Center, 100 N Midwest Blvd.


Dec. 10 — flu shots from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Department of Human Services, 7201 NW 10.

Who needs flu shots?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends flu shots for:


• Children ages 6 months to 19 years old


• People over 50 years old


• Pregnant women


• People who live in nursing homes and long-term care facilities


• Those working in health care and other professions that put them in contact with the virus.
