Light freezing rain falls in parts of Oklahoma

Periods of light freezing rain were seen across areas of northwestern Oklahoma today. Just after noon, light freezing rain was reported in northern Garfield County near Kremlin and southern Grant County near Pond Creek.

During the overnight hours, skies are likely to be mostly cloudy and a chance of rain will continue in much of Oklahoma, along with widespread fog late. There will be a chance of light rain or light freezing rain and light snow in the Panhandle and northwestern Oklahoma.

Thursday should be mostly cloudy, with a chance of light rain and light freezing rain early in northwestern Oklahoma, followed by a chance of rain in western Oklahoma and a chance of rain and isolated thunderstorms in eastern parts of the state. Conditions are likely to be windy and warmer, with highs from the mid-40s to lower 50s in the west and from the lower 50s to lower 60s in the east.

Oklahoma City-area forecast

• Rest of today: Mostly cloudy. Highs in the lower 40s. Light and variable winds.

Tonight: Cloudy. Lows in the lower 30s. Southeasterly winds about 10 mph. Twenty percent chance of rain and light sleet after midnight. Areas of dense fog after midnight.

• Thursday: Cloudy. Highs in the lower 50s. Southeasterly winds 10 to 20 mph. Fifty percent chance of rain and light freezing rain in the morning. Fifty percent chance of rain in the morning. Areas of dense fog in the morning.

• Thursday night: Partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 30s. Southwesterly winds 20 to 30 mph. Forty percent chance of rain and isolated thunderstorms.
