Whether he’s on offense or defense, Tulsa Washington running back/linebacker Michael Doctor is never one to shy away from contact.

“He’s a headhunter,” Hornets offensive lineman Keenan Taylor said. “He just goes after people.”

It worked this year for Doctor, who earned Oklahoman All-State honors at linebacker after an outstanding senior season that ended with a Class 5A championship for Tulsa Washington.

Defensively, Doctor had 124 tackles, eight sacks and three interceptions.for a Hornets unit that held five opponents to seven or fewer points including a streak of three consecutive shutouts in October.

On offense, Doctor teamed up with junior quarterback Eric Bennett as one of the state’s top quarterback/running back rushing threats.

Doctor ran for 1,299 yards and 23 touchdowns on 154 carries. Together, he and Bennett combined for more than 2,300 yards and 41 touchdowns on the ground. Doctor also scored on two of his four receptions.

Doctor is one of three state players committed to Oregon State, joining Deer Creek’s Dax Dilbeck and Jenks’ Tramaine Thompson.

He’s expected to play defense in college.
