I got up to 247 pounds at 5'8" tall by listening to advice. One told me to eat three meals per day, especially breakfast, instead of the one from injuries which prevented my running 8 miles per day. I started to gain weight and went from a muscular 180 to a plump 210. Then I started going to a church of vegetarians. They insisted a person would lose weight that way, but I told them Suma Wrestlers are vegetarians and farmers fatten their animals on veggies. But I tried it and went up to 247. I started dating the lady that became my wife but she said she wouldn't marry me since she couldn't even sit on my lap because me belly was already on my knees. I started eating only meat. When I gat down to a78 she asked me to marry her and flew to Vegas that day before she had a chance to change her mind. Since then I've been injured even more and have had knee replacement and 4 other surgeries so have started to gain the weight back. I need the other knee replaced so I can work again, but until then, I guess I'll go back to the meat diet.

ATKINS diet. I lost 50 pounds in 3 months and have kept if off almost one year. I was also able to get off two forms of high blood pressure medicine.

Should have known that Okies wouldn't comment about diets they've tried..since most of them consider the word and the act itself blasphemy, it's apparent this is the case every time you walk down the street.....

multiply target weight by 10. That's the amount of calories per day you can have to reach that weight.

The most succesful diet I tried was Weight Watchers. It's not even actually a diet, it is a health conscious way of paying attention to portions. After having hunger the initial week of starting it, I noticed that I was eating MORE than usual and still losing weight. I am very busy and have no time for meetings, so I did the Weight Watchers online program. It was great and fit into my schedule. Lost 15 pounds in the first month and 30 after 5. I really feel it is one of the healthiest diets, and I didn't have an opressive list of "banned" foods. I could eat anything I wanted. I just learned moderation.
As someone who has traveled a lot, and as a healthcare professional, I can certainly say that Oklahoma DOES seem like a fat city. AS an observation of the public here in general AND in the hospitals I work at out here! I remember working out in California for a while on an out of state assignment. I RARELY had an overweight patient. I also had, by far, WAY less diabetic patients. When my husband came out on his first visit to see me out there, we were walking around the city and he said "I just noticed something, I have hardly seen any fat people...and this place is full of bie trails and joggers!" He was right. I did not see multitudes of fast food chains where I was, and there were tons of whole food stores. In comparison, it was cheaper for me to grocery shop for health foods out there than for convenience and microwave meals. While out here, it is more expensive to grocery shop for health foods.

Since okaysee has the title of one of America's fattest cities, I think this question is already answered before it's asked......

a slim fast alone for lunch is not very healthy. EATING is the key to maintaining a healthy weight. folks who skip meals, or eating something very small for a meal are doing more harm than good

Diets? none. Just proper eating and staying away from junk food. I also try to stay away from buffet restaurants and folks that have bad eating habits. Eat slowly, eat properly, and get off your duff.

Well, I've always strugled with my weight. Not so much being really fat but just overweight. I've tried everything from not eating breakfast or lunch, to eating little meals through out the day. It is very hard to have kids, a full time job, and be a student. So, many times I opt to get out of work and go drive through get something to eat for me and my kids. Yes, I know we should eat healthty and exercise everyday....But it is easier said than done...
The thing that worked for me was eating breakfast no matter what, that helped me not to be so hungry during lunch and be more alert. During lunch I take a Slim Fast or nothing at all, And for dinner I eat regular since I am with my husband and family....regarding Exercise...Have not done that yet but it should be very important in all our lifes since we all kind of leave very sedentary lives...

First, there was the ole "Sea food" diet, I'd see food and eat it whenever I got the chance. Then there was the ole just reduce portions at your regular meals diet, so I stopped ordering the x-large Pizzas and went to just eating the large pizza, or I'd leave that really fattening picante sauce off of the 6 tacos or burritos. Then there was the ole eat really small portions several times a day diet that the athletes use... I ate small portions of pasta, cheeses and warm breads all throughout the day. I'd get lots of exercise every day... going back and forth between the Couch and the frig or from the couch to the front door for fast food deliveries. You know, none of those diets worked. ;>)
