Company expansion may bring 20 new jobs to Hinton

HINTON — While many companies are facing layoffs and production cuts, Dougherty Forestry Manufacturing is expanding into a new facility.

The company plans to build a 16,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Hinton for production of its Turbo Saw line of ecologically-friendly tree- and brush-cutting equipment.

The expansion could bring up to 20 jobs to the community.

"We intend to create well-paying jobs and a productive work environment that will sustain us well into the future,” said Patrick Dougherty, president and chief executive officer.

Business boomed for the company in 2007 and 2008, and the new facility allows the company to respond to increasing customer demand, the company said.

Dougherty Forestry hopes to produce 2,000 to 3,000 units a year at the new facility.

The products are used for invasive vegetation removal, such as cedar trees in Oklahoma.

Dougherty Forestry Manufacturing started in 2003 and employs six family members.
