KWTV-9 sports director Dean Blevins is being hospitalized in the intensive care unit at OU Medical Center after slipping Monday on ice outside his home in northwest Edmond and hitting his head.
Blevins said he was preparing to work out and leave for Stillwater to cover the Bedlam basketball game when he went outside just after noon to check street conditions.
“I slid and hit the back of my head on a step,” Blevins said. “I laid outside for 45 minutes in my workout stuff. I was unconscious for an undetermined amount of time until neighbors came over.”
After being taken to OU Medical Center, Blevins said doctors put six to seven staples in his head to close the gash and later performed several tests on him.
“They are concerned about the bleeding and bruising in the brain area,” he said.
KWTV-9 news director Blaise Labbe said, “We wish the best for him and our prayers are with his family.”
