Gov. Brad Henry asked President Barack Obama on Friday to approve individual assistance for victims in Carter, Logan and Oklahoma counties, where more than 300 homes and businesses were damaged.

Saturday, Oklahoma Emergency Management spokeswoman Michelann Ooten said teams are looking at damage to infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, utility lines and public buildings. Workers are estimating storm-related overtime pay and the cost of disposing of storm debris to maximize federal funding.

Once those estimates are finished, which Ooten said could happen later this week, the governor will make a second request for "public assistance” to help local governments with some of the expenses.
