Name: Tye Allen Lyons

Age: 6

Place of residence: Fanshawe

Died: April 22, 2007

What happened: Tye died after being struck in the chest with a baseball while playing with his sister and cousin at his grandmother's house in Latimer County. Doctors said Tye died from a condition called commotion cordis, which happens when there is a blunt impact to the chest that leads to cardiac arrest and death.

Other: Tye's dad, Shawn Lyons, said Tye was an outgoing kid who loved to play baseball, kickball and ride four wheelers. Fanshawe School, where Tye attended kindergarten, named its sports complex after the boy.

“He was a good kid. Everyone loved him,” Shawn Lyons said. “I think about him every day. There's nothing that makes it easier. It's a day-to-day thing.”
