What’s the future of The Oklahoman?

It’s a question we’re getting more often, as the newspaper industry finds itself under scrutiny more than at any point in recent memory. In our business we’re used to reporting the news, not necessarily making it. But it’s hard to avoid when a handful of newspapers are folding, others are in bankruptcy and many others feel more financial strain than ever. The Great Recession of 2009, as some have called it, is affecting all kinds of industries. For those in the news business, it’s the worst advertising recession since the Great Depression of the 1930s. And advertising — in print, broadcast and online — provides the bulk of revenue for nearly all media outlets.
