The Oklahoman has long had a progress edition, to track just how the state is doing in various subject areas. In 2002, we changed the name to Outlook, counting down five long years to the state’s Centennial. Well, it’s time again to shake things up. First, we’re modifying the names of the sections, this year, to better reflect our lifestyles and attitudes.
What was Lifestyles & Recreation, becomes The Way We Live. What was Business and Transportation becomes Business & Technology. What was Science & Technology becomes Advancements in Health. And, we subscribed to the "if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” philosophy when it comes to our last section. Education & Careers remains just that.
There’s sports in here!In what is traditionally our biggest section, The Way We Live is adding an area of coverage we haven’t dealt with in earlier Outlooks. We’re adding professional sports to the mix. How could we not? We have a new NBA team making a big noise in Oklahoma City. Our baseball stadium is a landmark in Bricktown. Also, recreational sports has a bigger footprint in this section, such as skate parks and other nontraditional parks that dot the landscape. We hope you enjoy the additions.
Theme: InnovationOur theme this year focuses on innovation, and how the people, companies and organizations in our four subject areas are adapting to an evolving society. We look at innovation among sports teams, in Business, Health and on college campuses.
