NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma football team released its preseason depth chart Monday, with a couple surprises.

Landry Jones evidently hasn’t beaten out incoming freshman Drew Allen for the rights to back up Sam Bradford at quarterback, as the depth chart lists Allen “or” Jones as the backup. Mike Balogun, not Ryan Reynolds nor Austin Box, is the starter at middle linebacker heading into the fall. Balogun had a impressive spring, while Reynolds and Box sat out with injuries.

First-year freshmen Jaydan Bird and Tom Wort, coming off surprisingly impressive springs, are both listed as second-team linebackers. True freshman Javon Harris, who also took part in spring drills, is the top reserve at strong safety.

Mossis Madu, previously a running back, is listed as Ryan Broyles’ backup at slot receiver.

Jamell Fleming, who had to temporarily leave the team this past semester to resolve some academic issues, is listed as the backup at boundary cornerback to Brian Jackson.

The depth chart does not include any listing for special teams.
