Yukon’s James named All-American
Yukon pitcher Chad James was named third-team ABCA/Rawlings All-American last week.

James was selected 18th overall by the Florida Marlins in the Major League Baseball Draft earlier this summer. He has yet to sign.

James was 8-2 with a 1.28 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 63 1/3 innings as a senior and earned Oklahoman All-State and Big All-City Player of the Year honors.

Cavs’ Jackson to host basketball camp
Former Midwest City and Kansas standout Darnell Jackson, now with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Athletes First will host a basketball camp later this month for boys and girls ages 8-17.

The camp, which will be held Aug. 22-23, will take place at Santa Fe Family Life Center at 6300 N. Santa Fe in Oklahoma City. It will go from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Registration is $100 if received before Aug. 19 and $125 after.

For more information, contact Gary Vick at 476-5072.

Each camper will receive an autographed T-shirt from Jackson and a certificate of participation.

Moore, Westmoore with new softball coaches
It’s been tough adjustment for Robert Wakefield. Though no longer Moore’s fastpitch softball coach, he knows the program is in good hands with Stephanie Riley, who had been an assistant coach since 2002.
