LANGSTON — Five people were shot early Sunday on the Langston University campus in Logan County, a university spokeswoman said. All five were taken to hospitals.

Five people were arrested after the shootings.

A sixth person was arrested and another person hurt in an incident involving a woman who hit someone with her car on campus about the same time, university spokeswoman Ashley Gibson said.{#xf078}

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown identified David Stephens, 23, as one of the people arrested in connection with the shooting. The identities of the others have not been released.

Those involved were at a university-approved party at the gym. No one involved is a Langston student, Gibson said.

"We're going to change how we run our parties," said Anthony Crawford, the activities coordinator for the Student Government Association. "We're writing up a proposal to our security on campus saying that there has to be a certain way that our students can come into the party and once the party is over having the security outside telling the students to go home."

Campus police and sheriff's deputies responded to the shooting about 1:10 a.m. in a parking lot behind Jones Hall, Gibson said. One person with a graze wound to the head, one person with a gunshot to the back and another with a gunshot to the thigh were taken to OU Medical Center. Their conditions were not released.
