Metro gains valuable asset
Metro Christian is in solid position to win the district with 15 returning starters from a team that went 9-3 and finished second in district play with a 6-1 mark. In addition to returning the bulk of the team, the Patriots also added a valuable incoming asset.

The Patriots welcome Jenks transfer quarterback Beau Marsaln, who will be at his fourth high school in four years, and he is a major addition to a team in a position to make a run at the state championship.

Marsaln was a backup for the Trojans last season after throwing for 4,700 yards and 53 touchdowns combined as a freshman at Locust Grove and as a sophomore at Blackwell.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound signal caller left Metro in eighth grade, but coach Jared McCoy said he is happy to have him back in a Patriots uniform.

"The kid looks like a linebacker on the field and he runs well and has a rifle for an arm,” McCoy said. "We have a lot of experience on this team and adding Marsaln is a major boost.”

New Hugo boss
Daryl Williamson has yet to coach a game at Hugo but he said he feels good about the situation he is in with the Buffaloes.

Hugo returns eight starters from last year’s playoff team and Williamson said the leadership and the strength of the team’s linebacking core and skill positions encourages him.

"The good Lord has blessed me with this group,” Williamson said. "We had great participation this offseason led by the linebackers and the seniors have been great.
