Couple start family with injured pooch

TULSA — It wasn’t as costly as the rings Eric and Jane Taylor exchanged, but the new collar they presented to Daisy was offered with the same solid-gold vows of love and commitment.

The Broken Arrow couple, who got married Aug. 15, were selected out of several applicant families to adopt a 6-year-old dachshund mix disfigured in an accident. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Tulsa handled the adoption.

The Taylors say the dog was their wedding gift to each other.

"We wanted to start a family and what better way to do that than adopt an adorable dog,” Eric said. "We saw her in the paper and I said I had to have her,” Jane said. "We were afraid she would already be gone.”
