Bob Moore Cadillac says it will remain open in Norman

NORMAN — General Motors Co. has reversed its decision to eliminate Bob Moore Cadillac in Norman from its brand, according to the Bob Moore Auto Group.

The dealership was one of 17 in Oklahoma on the chopping block as GM looked to streamline its business in part by shedding 1,300 dealerships nationwide. Those individual dealerships have not been publicly identified.

Bob Moore Auto Group announced Monday that the Norman dealership, which opened in 1988, will renew its franchise agreement with GM after a successful appeal.

Curtis Hayes, chief financial officer for Bob Moore Auto Group, said GM rejected the initial appeal but was convinced to reconsider.

"GM finally recognized the value of our business plan,” he said.

Hayes said there are enough customers in the metro area to support two Cadillac stores: the Norman dealership and a north Oklahoma City dealership at 13010 N Broadway Extension.

"We have a lot of loyal customers in Norman and further south,” he said. The Norman store is Oklahoma’s third-largest Cadillac dealer in sales, after Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

A GM spokesman declined to comment on any specific franchise agreement, which he said is private.

He did say that GM has finished reviewing dealers’ appeals.
