Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford suffered a significant shoulder injury in the season’s first week. Since then, several other headline-making quarterbacks have gone down as well. Baylor’s Robert Griffin joined the group after tearing his ACL early in Baylor’s win on Saturday. Florida’s Tim Tebow suffered a concussion in the third quarter of Florida’s win over Kentucky and spent the night in the hospital. Last week, South Florida quarterback Matt Grothe tore his ACL and will miss the rest of the season. His replacement, B.J. Daniels led the Bulls to an upset win over Florida State, but when USC’s Matt Barkley missed the Trojans’ game against Washington with a shoulder injury, backup Aaron Corp struggled in a loss to Washington.
Set to playOklahoma and Miami are going primetime. ABC revealed Sunday morning it will broadcast next week’s game in Miami at 7 p.m. The Hurricanes will be limping into the game. After starting the season 2-0, Miami was drilled 31-7 on Saturday at Virginia Tech. The Sooners (2-1) had a bye over the weekend.
Poll watchingFour losses by top 10 teams helped the Sooners jump to No. 8 in both polls this week. One of those top 10 teams was the Sooners’ opponent next week, No. 17 Miami. The Sooners weren’t one of them, but 15 teams moved up or down at least three spots in the poll. No. 2 Texas is the only Big 12 team ranked ahead of Oklahoma, but three other Big 12 teams made the cut in the media poll. Six Big 12 teams were ranked in the coaches poll. Boise State (4-0) came in at No. 5, the highest regular season ranking ever for the Broncos.
