Cowboys linebacker Andre Sexton was a South Texas star, named Houston Touchdown Club Defensive Player of the Year as a senior at Cypress Falls High. Yet, Texas A&M didn’t offer Sexton a scholarship. Maybe it was a timing thing, since Sexton committed to OSU early. Still, the snub has remained with the Cowboys senior. "I always have an extra chip on my shoulder when I go play them, just because of that,” Sexton said. Not that Sexton would have ended up in College Station. "I was always a UT guy at heart,” he said, "so that maroon just doesn’t sit well with me.”
MILLER TIMETexas A&M leads the Big 12 — and ranks fourth nationally — in sacks, dropping enemy quarterbacks 16 times this season. Von Miller, who plays a hybrid linebacker/defensive end role for the Aggies, leads the charge with an NCAA-best nine sacks. "The guy is very good,” said Cowboys coach Mike Gundy. "They use him in different areas. They’ll put him on the outside, they’ll bring him to the inside. They move him around and try to create mismatches in a pass rush situation. "He has a lot of hurries and he’s made a lot of hits on the quarterback.”
CLOSE, BUT...OSU is just 3-10 against A&M since the formation of the Big 12. Still, the series has been quite competitive, with the Cowboys losing two overtime games and four by a total of 10 points Over the last seven meetings — four of them Aggie wins — OSU holds a slim edge in cumulative score, 221-217.
