Texas saw plenty of the defensive tackle and the rest of the Sooner defense, which played valiantly Saturday at the Cotton Bowl.

But despite holding the Longhorns to their lowest point total in three years, Texas held on for a 16-13 win.

"I can't tell you how hard their defense played, how tough they were," said Texas senior quarterback Colt McCoy, who was sacked four times and threw for just 127 yards, his lowest output since his freshman season.

"That is the best defense in the country."

Defensive coordinator Brent Venables came up with a brilliant game plan to shut down Texas' prolific passing attack, particularly star wideout Jordan Shipley, who was held in check with four receptions for 22 yards.

The Sooners employed a series of zone blitzes, a scheme where a defensive lineman drops back in pass coverage and at least one linebacker or defensive back comes on a blitz.
