Field crews have started to lay the new turf at Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, which was the site of Sunday’s U2 concert. The new grass is being shipped in via 30 tractor-trailers from a sod farm in Foley, Ala. The touring group representing U2 agreed to pay for the cost of resodding the field after the concert. Other stadiums that have hosted U2 but not had enough time to immediately resod the field have had issues with their playing surface during football games. But that shouldn’t be a problem for the Sooners, who won’t play on the field until Oct. 31 against Kansas State.
