Praying mothers are invited to join moms from around the world at a ministry event Nov. 14.
Moms in
Touch International is celebrating its 25th anniversary with Arise! Cry Out!, a prayer event simulcast at host sites in various communities, including many in Oklahoma.
"It is a call worldwide for moms to cry out for the next generation,” said
Betty Van Horn, 49, director of Moms in Touch Oklahoma.
"The goal is a worldwide wave of prayer from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.”
As part of Moms in Touch, women gather in homes, churches and other establishments to pray for their children.
Van Horn, of Mustang, said the nondenominational ministry is in 132 countries, and there will be numerous simulcast sites worldwide. Eight churches in
Oklahoma are host sites.
She said mothers will be encouraged to pray like never before as their children face various challenges such as H1N1 virus, violence on college campuses, suicide, pornography and drugs.
"It’s a good reminder that when we gather to pray, it changes the lives of our children.”
Van Horn said she thinks the ministry has continued to draw women because most mothers already have the best intentions for their children.
"I think moms just have a heart for their kids. If they know Jesus, they know that He is best for them,” she said.
"We could worry, or we could pray. When we pray to Him, that puts everything else in perspective.”
