OSU football notebook: The passion remains

OSU coach Mike Gundy is very familiar with the Bedlam scene, having participated as a fan, player and coach. Even with his brother Cale on the OU coaching staff, Mike Gundy’s passion to beat the Sooners remains strong.

"That player comes out in him,” senior linebacker Andre Sexton said. "It’s something I don’t think anyone who went to OSU will ever give up, just that fire in you (to want to beat OU).”

Sexton said that passion runs deep, especially during Bedlam week.

"They stay an hour away from us,” Sexton said. "We don’t want to leave with that bad taste in our mouths, knowing we lost to them four straight years. We’ve been in great games and they just found a way to win them. It’s going to be a dogfight.”

On the road again
Oklahoma State has shown continued improvement on the road under Mike Gundy. After wins at Missouri and Colorado in 2008, OSU is 3-0 away from Boone Pickens Stadium this season.

Seniors Russell Okung, Andre Sexton and Zac Robinson have been a big part of the Cowboys’ success on the road this season.

"(It’s been) the maturity and the strength of our program right now,” Gundy said of his team’s road wins over Baylor, Texas A&M and Iowa State.
