New SemGroup CEO upbeat as company prepares to emerge from bankruptcy

Norm Szydlowski has helped get Iraq’s oil sector back on its feet after the war, so guiding SemGroup LP out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy may not seem like such a big thing.

On the contrary, SemGroup’s new CEO said he is full of optimism and excitement as the Tulsa midstream energy company is on the verge of exiting its 16-month trek through the bankruptcy wilderness.

“It’s hard to find anything similar to Iraq,” Szydlowski (pronounced “Sid-louski”) said Monday in an exclusive interview with the Tulsa World, “but you hope that some of the experience has prepared you for setting priorities.”
